An adult cardiac and thoracic surgeon for over 25 years, mostly in the Christiana Care Health System in Delaware, Dr. Shapira recognized the need for improvement in the care of venous disease.  In 2010 Dr. Shapira established the first laser vein center in Delaware. The center utilizes minimally invasive treatments for all forms of venous disease including spider veins, large and small varicose veins, leg swelling, and skin ulcerations. Dr. Shapira is a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the Society for Thoracic Surgery and the American College of Phlebology. 

After 18 years as Chief Physician Assistant on the cardiac surgery team at the Christiana Care Health System (CCHS), Delaware, Jodi traveled the world to study ancient healing traditions. Since her return, she has been coaching patients in lifestyle modification that includes healthier food choices, stress management and exercise at the Center for Integrative Health, CCHS.  Considering the importance of the preventive aspects of venous disease, Jodi is offering her expertise in integrative and complementary approaches to treatment.
